Think, “What’s the WORST that can happen?” Youll find its usually not that bad!

Write a Gratitude List.
Example: I am young and healthy. I have family and friends, food and shelter. A lot of people in the world have absolutely dick.

have more realistic goals.
or don’t have goals at all and take life as it comes.
huge aspirations usually don’t come true- you’re setting yourself up for failure and consequently depression.

Well I always think that tomorrow will be better.
I mean, I had the worst month in September and I was just really down. But then, I changed my attitude around and realized things could be worse. And then, after I totally became positive, things completely changed.
If you surround yourself with people that have positive attitudes and things that make you happy, it should help.
Also, sometimes music is very helpful.
Daydreaming helps a lot too. Ha ha trust me on that one. It’s a great escape

Think about your nightmares. The fact that you can imagine your life even worse than your current one means life can’t be all that bad.
Have optimism.

Honestly, this sounds horrible; but look at others around you. There are people out there whose life is worse than yours. I keep going by thinking, well, at least i am not in that person’s shoes.

Well i will always start to feel depressed an cry about the horrible stuff in my life but then im like wait… I have a family that loves me, a roof over my head, a job, a car, health insurance… i count all the good things that i do have in life and remind myself that their are people in this world that can even feed themselves, people in this world that can’t clothe themselves, people in the world that are dying from horrible things like cancer…… then i realize that maybe my life isnt half bad after all and i feel lucky. so don’t worry about stuff, things could always be worse then what they are so just feel grateful for things you do have.

Being grateful for gifts is a powerful way to keep a positive attitude.
I do not only mean material gifts, but also gifts of family, friendship, spiritual friends, meaning & purpose in ones life, etc.
I would suggest becoming acquainted with the Gratefulness website. Listed below….there are many offerings, including e-cards. It is a totally positive website.

..normally what I would do is to tell myself what could have been worst since I’ve been there and anything short of the ‘pits’ should be good..

You know I can not help you with this one.. I my self can not be positive on anything right now. I have lost the love of my life and regret every second that I hurt him.. It feels that there is no way at all to have a “positive attitude” the only thing I find in that is just the wonderful times I did have and other than that positive thing I feel lost.

think of all the good things, even little things in life. think of something u have going on for you thats relatable to someone else that doesnt have it so good. dont think of, oh i get to eat while people in so and so country are starving, cuz its not relateable (unless you’ve been there and seen it). think, oh i have these nice pretty eyes or pretty lips or wahtever that makes you feel good. then think about the direction in ur life is going. then think about some of the questions u read on here sometimes that make u happy to be who you are. you know?

I’ve struggled with the same. When talking it out just wasn’t enough I searched for books to read. Norman Vincent Peale has written many books on positive thinking. I have benefited from reading his books, try searching in your public library or online for his books.
Also, figure out what is the cause of your problem. Are you complaining because you have too high expectations for people? Are you displacing anger that you have about something else?
And when none of these are helping this is what I do. I change my way of thinking. It’s important to realize when you are complaining, because then you can think about how there are people much worse off than you. I think about the children I met in Guatemala who lived in dirty shacks eating spoiled food. I have a home, an education, a family (though they may be annoying), and I am safe. Who am I to complain? By changing your way of thinking you can turn negatives into positives. Every nasty thing that has happened to you will only turn you into a stronger mature person. It all starts with changing your way of thinking.

I started changing my attitude by going to bed every night and thanking God for one thing in my life. Sometimes it would just be… Thank you God I am still breathing. BUT I always made it a point every single night to thank God for something, anything. We have a lot to be thankful for. food on the table, a car to drive, a nice warm bed to lie in at night, a roof over our head. When you get into that mentality, you can force yourself to change your negative thoughts into positive. Before you know it, you will be thinking this way on your own. Then when times become worse, you will find yourself already seeking out the positive in that situation! I hope this helps.

When I was suicidal because the love of my life dumped me I simply asked God to “make a way” and He did.
So all you have to do is ask God to make a way, because God WILL make a way if you ask Him.

I can completely understand. I was born with a positive attitude, and I just went through a VERY stressful event. I know that part of the reason that I blew up, was that I didn’t give my cares fully over to God. Typically how I do this though is by taking a deep breath, and then letting it all out and imagining that all my care are going to Him then I don’t have to worry about it. I also think of Something that is good that happened. Like… I just fell down on my rear, but at least it was in front of my friends, OR it was in front of a lot of people I don’t know, and I will probably never get to know. If that doesn’t work, I smile. EVEN if I don’t feel like it. Believe it or not, it helps. Have you ever heard of the pastor Joel Osteen? He is a very optimistic teacher. If you go to his web site Joelosteen.com and sine up for his daily inspirationals, That can help get your day started on an upbeat. Don’t worry, you WILL be FINE. Truly!
The Bible says that: Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who find great delight in His commands.
Psalms 112:1.
You’ll be fine.
God Bless!
