Where did
the ideal of compassion originate? I think many people feel this is an opportune time to tell me, “the idea of compassion comes from God and God alone!” Apart from that this would be relegated compassion itself to complete the absurd, why is it arbitrary? P> arbitrary ask? Arbitrary in the sense that it is not always followed. As I have stated on many occasions, the ideals seem ideal in the strict sense when always strong> followed! Otherwise, it could be argued to show compassion for abused and abandoned babies, but the puppies show little else but contempt and trial for pedophiles and rapists! This does not seem ideal for compassion, rather, it seems to make it a little more practice. P> So what could reasonably justify the arbitrariness of both with respect to people to show compassion to do and which not? I have an interesting idea on how we can consciously or unconsciously, perhaps more commonly “calculate” this. We simply agree compassion to those in the circumstances, we could see or have already been strong>. In this way, we expect a sort of “hope” that if the roles were reversed, these same people would give mercy. A tit for tat so to speak, or perhaps a better term evolutionary, reciprocal altruism. P> Why, one wonders, it seems so little compassion for child molesters and rapists? Because very few (we desperately hope at least) could never be committing such heinous acts! So why few seem compelled to sympathize with them. P> On the other hand, to those who have committed extramarital affairs. As I noted earlier, if all those others deemed to be cases did not continue in them and do exactly the same, there would be a lot less business. Perhaps many of those who have compassion and forgiveness for those who happen to have been busy either consciously or unconsciously recognize the fact or at least they could continue to do the same thing (or perhaps already) and that they are, once again, just plan “hope” that if the roles were reversed, these same people would give compassion and forgiveness on them! P> I think that compassion relegated to being nothing but group selection in evolution. In this sense, we engage in a kind of reciprocal altruism, as it benefits the U.S. as people! It is decidedly selfish! Not that there’s nothing wrong with that. . . . . but then that becomes the ideal of compassion as having originated from a God who commands, or at least wants us to be less self strong>? P> Perhaps the pinnacle of forgiveness is forgiving
pedophiles and rapists? Hmm. . . . . not sure I could do that especially if my wife and child were their victims! P>
Strong Just a common guy trying to make my way on this mud ball called Earth corn! As cynical and negative as it may seem, I'm actually quite content and at peace right where I am. I am fully satisfied through the quiet, contemplative reflection. I'm on an endless quest to find meaning in life as opposed to existing only to consume and do tricks.
