There are all kinds of toys to choose child – much to help them develop mentally while others will help them develop physically.

For example, toddlers love manipulated toys and especially enjoy playing with balls, bricks and blocks and small toys such as figurines of characters, dolls and stuffed animals. They like toys that they can interact and role play so look toy telephones, kitchens and play food and animals and people. Things with buttons to press and make noises and still call.

Vehicles are also a great success here – for both girls and boys. Trains, cars, boats and aircraft are all very well with the game-assemblies such as the airport or station a sure-fire.

Look for books with flaps and pop-ups and those that introduce them to things like animals, letters and numbers.

Security is always a big problem with toddlers – they still put things in their mouths to avoid toys with small parts that could choke them. Search UK accreditation standards as a quality label, the mark of the Lion or the EC or the qualification EN. These marks indicate that the toy has adopted certain standards and is safe to use.
